Holy Objects Series

In this series, ordinary objects are elevated to the status of sacred beings through a ritual that unfolds over several hours. These objects undergo transformation through the ritual of melting ice placed upon them, with the water sourced from the most sacred spring in the Islamic realm, located in Mecca. The tension created by the interaction between the sacred Zamzam water and the object beneath leaves an invisible mark of transformation on the latter.

Through this project, I explore concepts of sacredness and the transformation of status that arises from religious beliefs. I draw inspiration from political systems rooted in religion, where political figures attain an elevated status, becoming unimpeachable and uncriticizable, often perceived as sacred or god-like. Much like a scientific experiment that simulates reality within a controlled environment, this installation invites the audience to critically engage with my assertion, the object itself, and the transformative process.
